Avuá Cachaça is an artisanal, small-batch sugarcane spirit from the fourth-generation family business, Fazenda da Quinta, in the highlands of Rio de Janeiro.
We have summarized details on the production of Avuá Cachaça in an extra article, as well as a brief description of what Cachaça actually is.

For Avuá Bálsamo, the base distillate is aged in Bálsamo wood casks for 12-24 months. This is a very hard, amber-red tropical wood with a very high proportion of resins and essential oils.

The sugar cane is first present in the aroma and you have to take some time to recognize the fine aromatic nuances. The taste overwhelms but immediately with an unexpectedly dry but complex impression. Herbal-spicy notes alternate with a touch of sweetness from sugar cane and are accompanied by a mineral undertone. The finish is also long and offers the same interplay of the various components. Perhaps the most complex bottling from the Avuá range.

Drinking recommendation:

Enjoy the first sip pure - as with any spirit! And actually also the next sips. The Avuá Bálsamo offers a great complexity, for which it is worth paying more and longer attention to the pure distillate.

Mixing is of course also possible, but you should look for creations that allow the cachaça to develop completely! We've already tried a few delicious drinks with it - but so far none have been able to do justice to the Bálsamo, in our opinion.
