    COMUNIDAD CDMX - THE NEW COLLECTION BY STEPHANIE THATENHORST

    ACAPULCO DESIGN is collaborating for the first time with renowned interior designer STEPHANIE THATENHORST. The resulting capsule collection, titled "COMUNIDAD CDMX," tells the story of a summer design affair between two creative minds, which takes us through the multifaceted metropolis of Mexico City—into the heart of a vibrant urban community and Mexican craftsmanship. The result is an unconventional play of colors.

    Acapulco Design, known for its iconic, handcrafted chairs from Mexico, is breaking new ground with this project. This collaboration with Stephanie Thatenhorst resulted in our latest collection, which brings unconventional color compositions and creative accents to the world of the original Acapulco Chair.

    For this collaboration, Acapulco Design founder Benjamin Caja and internationally renowned designer Stephanie Thatenhorst embarked on an inspiring journey to Mexico City – the home of the famous chair. The designer, known for her extraordinary gift for experimenting with shapes and colors, gave the collection a very special touch with new, expressive color combinations. The results of this journey are not only a visual statement, but also a fascinating interplay of tradition and modernity.

    "Colors have an almost emotional meaning for me – they can transform spaces, create places of inspiration, and tell new stories," says Thatenhorst, who is known for her bold yet harmonious designs. Her designs for Acapulco Design combine typical Mexican style with modern flair, with each chair in this collection serving as a true work of art in the room.

    A JOURNEY THROUGH CIUDAD DE MEXICO (CDMX)
    Originally, the Acapulco Design founder and the designer intended to create a very earthy, natural-colored world. But over the course of their creative journey, the exact opposite emerged. Free-spirited, they followed their intuition and let things happen. The result is striking color combinations that are both elegant and provocative, making a statement. This was done entirely in the spirit of a vibrant and controversial megacity like Ciudad de Mexico, also known as "CDMX." For many years now, this megacity has increasingly become the focus of the creative scene and is an international hotspot due to its diversity, provocative art galleries, museums, and trendy dining concepts. All of them, with their unparalleled authenticity, vibrant spirit of optimism, and casualness, reflect the vibe of the community living there.

    This creative collaboration reflects a holistic vision: to set a tone while simultaneously conveying a touch of luxury and exclusivity. Each piece in the collection not only speaks of craftsmanship, but also of a design that, in its lightness and elegance, is both timeless and progressive. The Acapulco chairs, along with other products and the color scheme conceived by Stephanie Thatenhorst, ideally express the multifaceted nature of Mexico and become the flair of this progressive metropolis, a unique blend of bohemian, street style, luxury, struggle, avant-garde, tradition, and modernity.
