100% handwoven sheep's wool – handcrafted in Chile

This authentic rug (called a llama in the Mapuche language) is a true masterpiece of traditional textile art. It was entirely handwoven from pure sheep's wool on a traditional witral (the Mapuche vertical loom).

The distinctive pattern – known as Ñimin in Mapudungun – is created through the masterful interweaving of horizontal and vertical threads. The geometric shapes and striking red, black, and yellow color scheme reflect elements of the Mapuche worldview and territory: they symbolize medicinal plants, sacred animals, and deeply rooted traditions and beliefs.

Each piece is unique and testifies to the exceptional craftsmanship of the Düwekafe (master weavers) from Padre Las Casas in the Chilean region of Araucanía. An exquisite design object for a stylish, warm, and thoughtful interior.
