Maniok is a plant species from South America, whose root tubercles are consumed.
The Brazilian manioc is roasted in a pan with a drop of oil, onions, bacon, scrambled eggs, olives and consumed as an accompaniment for typical dishes like the Feijoada.
In the rest of South America it is used as wheat substitute. Manioc can be used to prepare many dishes, such as, soups, sauces, creams, cakes, breads and much more.
